Raising Independent Children…
Raising independent children is not easy in today’s society, but is achievable. This workshop will explore the power of praise and finding what is right in an individual. How setting goals with our children and then encouraging them as they strive to reach those goals can be a powerful tool in teaching independence. We will also explore the importance of commitment to our children each and every day. This will be accomplished by examining the individual strengths of our children. Exploring their interests and then helping them set sail to reach their desired destination. We will then practice how to genuinely praise and encourage our children. Then comes commitment. The objective of this entire workshop is to then send parents, foster parents, child care professionals back home with some new tools that will help then foster a positive pro active learning environment in their home. This will be accomplished through lecture, role play, self reflection exercises and then homework when the parent returns to their children. The new tools a parent can expect to take home are the ability to praise more, help children set goals, encourage progress and show commitment. The target audience is any parent, foster parent or professional child care worker who refuses to give up, refuses to find only the negative and truly believes in the dreams of their children and are committed enough to help that child learn the skills to make those dreams come true.
